SkillPlatz is Free During Launch - No Fees for Parents, No Commission for Teachers

Platform - 2026-06-24

SkillPlatz is currently in its launch phase. During this period, listing and booking are completely free - no commission for Teachers and Instructors, no booking fees for parents. We want to focus on building the right community first.

If pricing ever changes, existing users will be notified well in advance.

Why start with zero fees?

Most platforms that connect families with activity providers run on a commission model from day one. Every booking generates a cut for the platform - sometimes 15%, sometimes 20% or more. That fee either gets passed on to you as a higher price, or it squeezes the teacher who spent years developing their craft.

We chose a different starting point. In the launch phase, our priority is one thing: bringing great Teachers and Instructors and Berlin families together. Commission structures create the wrong incentives too early. They push providers to raise prices, filter out smaller specialist teachers, and turn the platform into a transaction machine before the community has had a chance to form.

Zero fees during launch means we grow on merit, not on lock-in.

What this means for parents right now

The price you see on any activity page is the price you pay. There are no booking fees added at checkout, no platform surcharges, no hidden costs on the final screen.

You can compare activities on SkillPlatz knowing the prices reflect what the teacher actually charges - not what they charge plus a platform margin.

What this means for Teachers and Instructors right now

Listing your activities on SkillPlatz during the launch phase costs nothing. You keep every euro from every booking. There is no percentage taken per session, no monthly fee to stay visible, and no premium tier required to appear in search results.

This matters most for teachers running small, specialist groups - a ceramics class for six kids, a beginner violin session, a German conversation circle. These are exactly the kinds of classes families are looking for, and they are the first to disappear when commission eats into viability.

What happens when the launch phase ends?

We will be transparent. If and when pricing is introduced, current users will hear about it directly and with plenty of notice - not through a change buried in terms and conditions. The goal is always to remain significantly more affordable than commission-heavy alternatives, because the platform works best when teachers can set a fair price and families can find it.

Try a class before you commit

Because many Teachers and Instructors on SkillPlatz offer a free trial class, you can try an activity with your child at no cost and with no obligation. If it is the right fit, you book the term. If not, try something else - still for free.

Zero platform fees during launch, plus a free trial session, means the risk of trying something new is as low as it gets. Now is a good time to explore.
